PACCTX Journal – July 2021
Kamusta po kayo? Are you enjoying our Texas summer?
Most businesses have just returned to normal (or as close as we can get) with higher temperatures and renewed quarantine concerns. It is a perfect time for Halo-Halo or Ube Ice Cream from our Filipino restaurants or even Trader Joe’s. We hope you are relishing quality time with family and friends, BBQ’s and pool parties, especially during last month’s Fourth of July celebration. And by the way, have you been watching the haul of Olympic medals from our local Texas, U.S., and Filipino athletes? Truly exciting!
We, at the chamber, have also had our hands full that we completely missed sending out our July newsletter. Thank you for bearing with us and please be prepared to get two issues this month!
This is a loaded issue, with business articles from our members Tarsha and Robert, photos of exciting in-person mixers and networking opportunities from our Dallas and Houston regional chambers, as well as a variety of events organized by our folks in Texas and our chamber friends from COFACC. As a member of PACCTX, you are welcome to attend these events.
Finally, let’s welcome our new Corporate Partner, ETC Learning Centers.
Stay cool and keep thriving!

PACCTX Journal – June 2021
The month of June carries special significance in so many quarters: June brides, summer heat, family vacations, and a lot of history, such as Juneteenth, Pride Month, and for the Philippine community, Philippine Independence celebrated on June 12th.
Our Philippine community held multiple celebrations starting with the painstaking transport of a near-century-old “Kalesa” (horse-drawn carriage) from its Lantana quarters to the Philippine Consulate in Houston where it was notably featured during the Consulate’s June 12th ceremonies. On the day itself, Consul General Jerril Santos presided over the solemn event in Houston, the Filipino Leaders Coalition of North Texas held a flag-raising ceremony in Carrollton, a live virtual event with moving poetry reading from our community in Rio Grande Valley, Karilagan Cultural Group performs the Tinikling live on network TV in San Antonio, young leaders of MALAYA held a picnic in Richardson, Filipina queens held court with Miss Philippines Universe 2021 in Dallas, and many more from organizations across Texas where our chamber regions were prominently represented.
This June newsletter is rich with photos, clips, and stories about these events, features, and many more.
We hope you enjoy this issue. Happy Philippine Independence Month!

PACCTX Journal – May 2021
Happy AAPI Heritage Month from PACC Texas! The Asian Heritage Month in our nation started as a week-long recognition of Asian/Pacific Islanders in 1979 evolved into a month-long tribute by 1990. We would like to believe that our contributions are too numerous, and our presence too vital that a week could not contain them all!
Still, not since 1979 have we encountered such conflicting times. Our collective evolution is tainted by bias, and at alarming rates, growing violence against our people. And so, we gather our voices as one and undertake positive initiatives to say #stopAAPIhate. We are #AAPISTRONG.
Before we announce upcoming events, we are happy to welcome our new chamber Corporate Partner, COMERICA, and announce the addition of the “Marketing Lady”, Tarsha Hearns, as our newsletter contributor…
