PACCTX Journal – October 2021

october 2021 journal cover

Kamusta na po kayo? Do you get a sense that time is just breezing past? October is ending and we are feeling nostalgic over celebrations of “Filipino American History Month” (FAHM) as if we are not completely done with its observance.

Still, I hope that we have advanced in the awareness of our identity as Filipinos in this country that we have chosen as our home. We have traced the arrival of the first Filipinos in what is now Morro Bay in California on October 1587. We have also made our mark in the American Labor Movement through labor leader Larry Itliong, born in October.

Between Morro Bay and Manong Larry (and today) are stories yet untold, of sacrifices and accomplishments that will no doubt unfold in time, as legends do. We write these stories every day through our hard work and the exemplary lives we endeavor to lead.

In our humble way, PACC Texas has striven to assist our kababayans in their business and professional pursuits. We uphold our mission to be of service to you and we hope that the month of October will always be a reminder that as we walk hand-in-hand in our quest to achieve our unique American dreams, we leave a worthy legacy.

With this in mind, our newsletter features accomplishments of chamber members as individuals and regional teams plus a wealth of information and ideas that will, hopefully, steer us closer to that goal.

We close the month with the hope that you had a meaningful Filipino American History Month. Mabuhay po tayong lahat!

PACCTX Journal – September 2021

september 2021 journal

Kamusta na po kayo?  This week, we celebrate National Small Business Week and pay tribute to our entrepreneurs.

We celebrate this happy event through the launch of our first-ever, virtual ENTREPRENEUR BOOTCAMP, consisting of four of the most-requested-topics by our members.  It is FREE with pre-registration and scheduled from 6:30pm-8:00pm every Wednesday starting on September 15th.  Most of our speakers are also PACCTX members, each from our four regions, who have volunteered to share their knowledge with us.  We are grateful to Comerica Bank for sponsoring this program.  Registration is still open at http://bit.ly/PACCTXEntrepreneurBootcamp

This September newsletter includes our usual line-up of events and articles, as well as brand new segments that we are proud to unveil.  We have an extraordinary article from our own member, Tarsha Hearns, about her encounter with social media fraud.

Our event line-up includes a link to BUILD’s “State of Immigration and Entrepreneurship”, PSA’s from the Philippine Consulate in Houston, PACCTX Region-4’s Community Pantry Project and COFACC’s vaccine donation to our kababayans in the Philippines, “Donate Vaccines, Save Lives”.  Let’s keep our hearts (and pockets) open for worthy humanitarian projects.

Finally, we unveil a new segment, “Ask Us: Isang Tanong, Isang Sagot”.  This month, Atty. Aileen Ligot Dizon (PACCTX Region-2) responds via video to the question, “What is Estate Planning?”.

In the meantime, let us welcome our new Corporate Member, BankCorp South Bank.

PACCTX Journal – August 2021

August 2021 PACCTX Journal

Kamusta po kayo? What a month! We have been riveted by so many unexpected events that have left us feeling unsettled. And just when we are about to move on with our lives, new strains from COVID19 set us even further back from progress. While it looks like an ongoing challenge, we are resilient. We will forge our way through.

In this newsletter, we present many resources that may help. Read the articles from our own Tarsha and Jay, our marketing and social media mavens. Learn and register for our upcoming “Entrepreneur Bootcamp”, where you can select any of the four topics or attend all successive Wednesday sessions starting October 15th. View even more learning and networking opportunities from the Coalition of Filipino American Chambers of Commerce (COFACC), where our PACCTX members can participate. And finally, check out ways to give back through our PACCTX Central’s Community Pantry, as well as vaccination initiatives spearheaded by our COFACC family.

We are your chamber family, and we are here for each other.

In the meantime, let us welcome our newest Corporate Partner, WYCOTAX!

PACCTX Journal – July 2021

Kamusta po kayo? Are you enjoying our Texas summer?

Most businesses have just returned to normal (or as close as we can get) with higher temperatures and renewed quarantine concerns. It is a perfect time for Halo-Halo or Ube Ice Cream from our Filipino restaurants or even Trader Joe’s. We hope you are relishing quality time with family and friends, BBQ’s and pool parties, especially during last month’s Fourth of July celebration. And by the way, have you been watching the haul of Olympic medals from our local Texas, U.S., and Filipino athletes? Truly exciting!

We, at the chamber, have also had our hands full that we completely missed sending out our July newsletter. Thank you for bearing with us and please be prepared to get two issues this month!

This is a loaded issue, with business articles from our members Tarsha and Robert, photos of exciting in-person mixers and networking opportunities from our Dallas and Houston regional chambers, as well as a variety of events organized by our folks in Texas and our chamber friends from COFACC. As a member of PACCTX, you are welcome to attend these events.

Finally, let’s welcome our new Corporate Partner, ETC Learning Centers.
Stay cool and keep thriving!
